The Al Jazeera journalist who went missing in Syria on April 29th is back in Doha, Qatar.

An Al Jazeera spokesman said: “I’m delighted to let you know that Dorothy Parvaz has been released and is safe and well and back with us in Doha. She has been in contact with her family, and we are with her now to find out more about her ordeal over the last eighteen days.”

Dorothy Parvaz was detained by Syrian officials after departing a fligh in Damascus, Sryia. She flew to the country to cover the recent anti-government protests.

Last week, the Syrian embassy in Washington DC said Parvaz tried to enter Syria using an expired Iranian visa and was subsequently escorted by the Iranian consul to Caspian Airlines flight 7905 heading to Tehran.

However, The Iranian foreign minister said he had no knowledge of Parvaz’s whereabouts.

Dorothy landed in Doha on May 18 on a flight from Iran.
