Amanda Walker

Amanda Walker is a former correspondent for Sky News.

During her time at Sky she’s covered breaking stories including the Boston Marathon bombings, Hurricane Sandy, mass shootings, the Syrian crisis, the Pope’s first US visit. She’s done special reports on abortion, America’s heroin epidemic and guns in Chicago for which she won an International Film and Television Award.

Formerly Russia Correspondent, Amanda covered the 2012 presidential election and the mass protests that followed. She gained a rare, exclusive interview, in English, with Vladimir Putin and uncovered alleged voting fraud. Across Russia she delivered original reports on the fur industry, illegal abortion, international adoption and the rise of the Russian far right. She has covered terror attacks including the Domodedovo airport bombing and the Pussy Riot trial, getting a rare interview with the first freed band member.

Beyond Russia, she reported on French and US elections, the war in Libya, Euro 2012 from Ukraine and Poland and two royal tours in Africa and Canada.

Prior to Sky, Amanda worked for 5 years as an on-the-road reporter for LBC radio, where she covered the Soham murders, the 2005 general election, and the 7/7 bombings, for which she received accolades in the Observer and in The Independent newspapers.

Amanda started her career at the Hull Daily Mail before moving into BBC local radio, LBC and then on to regional TV news at ITV Border.
