BBC London News’ Matt Barbet is to join Five News in October ahead of a new look to the channels news bulletins, it has been announced.
Barbet, who has recently presented the BBC’s main Breakfast programme, will join the channel as a presenter and correspondent meaning he will present across all bulletins as well as reporting from across the UK.
The 31 year old has become a high-profile figure on BBC London, where he fronted its coverage of the 7/7 bombings from Kings Cross.
“Matt is a fantastic addition to the Five News team, as we gear up for a new look in the new year,” said the Five News editor, David Kermode.
“As well as a proven record as a journalist, Matt has a distinctive style that makes him a great communicator.”
