Allan King

Allan has worked in radio and television news for more than 20 years and has been a presenter with Sky News since April 1993.

In the 70’s and 80’s he was a familiar voice on national commercial radio as a main news reader with IRN (Independent Radio News), and in London presented a range of programmes on LBC Radio.

He moved into television news in 1990 when he joined BSB as a presenter. In 1991 Allan became Head of News at London’s Melody FM, and joined Sky News two years later.

Among his many on-air discussions with political and business leaders, Allan obtained the first television interview with Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams the day after the London Docklands bombing broke the IRA ceasefire.

Other notable stories Allan has anchored include the signing of the Good Friday Agreement on Northern Ireland – when he was on-air solo – IRA arms decommissioning, many elections and the globalisation protests in Seattle which turned into riots.
