Liam Halligan is to join GB News as economics and business editor.

He will also co-present a daily lunchtime programme when the channel launches later this year.

Liam is best known for his weekly column in The Sunday Telegraph – Economics Agenda – which he has written for the last 18 years and will continue.

He also led Channel 4 News’ economics and business coverage for eight years.

“Begin apart of the launch of GB News is a hugely exciting opportunity,” said Liam.

“In a increasingly complex world, the community is hungry for analysis, explanation and a range of viewpoints – and that’s what we will deliver.”

Liam will join the team of Colin Brazier, Dan Wootton, Inaya Folarin Iman, Michelle Dewberry, Tom Harwood, Darren McCaffrey and Andrew Neil.

The new news channel will reach 96% of British households via Freeview, Sky, Virgin Media, YouView, and Freesat when it launches later this year.
