I’m starting to get a bit bored with the constant flooding coverage.
To my mind, it doesn’t qualify as a “tragedy”, as they have called it, unless somebody actually dies or is vaguely injured. The floods in India they had recently, where thousands died – now that’s a tragedy.
Lots of stuff about the bravery of the rescuers – the RAF and co pick people up out to sea in mountainous waves – I don’t think picking them up from the top of the house is quite so death defying!
Usually flooding stories get a quick mention without the need for wall-to-wall coverage, especially when there are so few new developments to go on.
Anyway, I’m going to tune back in now to see if they can find somebody else to interview at the emergency centre, where a whole 50 people were evacuated…
Flooding stories normally only get a quick mention because they’re either overseas or not a severe as this one in the UK. It’s just a shame that Sky weren’t as quick as other news gathering associations to get decent pictures of the floods. All this hype about being 1st with breaking news and the hype over the Sky News helicopter. Yet we only end up with a reporter on a mobile. 2 out 10 Sky, could do much better.
