ITV News is embarking on a hugely ambitious project to assess the evidence of climate change ? and will sent Science Editor Lawrence McGinty on a 50,000 mile journey around the globe to report first hand from some of the places most affected.
?Three degrees from disaster ? a global investigation? will launch across all ITV News bulletins next week and run until May.

Lawrence will start his journey in Canada where he will meet explorer Jim McNeil.
Lawrence will then travel across five continents assessing the damage climate change is causing both on a global scale and for the millions of people already directly affected.

At the same time, ITV News will adopt a UK family to assess what each individual can do to beat climate change. The family will ?go green? for the duration of the series ? from the very practical such as fitting energy saving light bulbs and insulating their houses properly to implementing some real lifestyle changes such as driving a hybrid car and cycling to work.

Lawrence McGinty?s trip will be carbon-neutral ? ITV News will buy the equivalent number of trees it will take to absorb the carbon-dioxide emissions generated by his travels.
