I feel safe where I am, but this has chilled me big time, especially with future visiting to London. I guess this was sadly waiting to happen, but the timing is scary. Whether this was timed to co-incide with the Olympic celebrations or whether it was because of the G8 it’s still scary to think that it can happen on our shores.

At this time my thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of both the injured and dead.

as long as nothing else happens, we’ve got off lightly. it’s awful beyond belief for those directly involved but in the grand scheme of things.. ….there were no chemicals involved, no bio weapons. the lights are still on around the country, we’re not under threat from planes not in pilot’s control – strike jets are not about to bomb the city as we do to other capitals. there may well still be problems that have to be guarded against.. air traffic controllers could be stuck in traffic, tired – or people doing overtime making mistakes. ..who knows. if we think of what could have happened, it seems pretty light. don’t let anyone say this is our sept 11. if you think spending ?25,000,000,000 on ID cards is a bad idea, it is still a bad idea, even after this. if the capital’s 10,000 cctv cameras haven’t caught anyone creating this carnage, why not? who gains from this?

and also, which tunnel did blair use to get back to downing st? where did his chopper land? i didnt see his car go through the streets…

Thought SKY’s coverage was quite good. Did anyone see BBC News 24? They showed a report at 11.50 this morning and told us to “look away”if we thought we would be disturbed.

What they showed was sick, disgraceful, I have cried all day after seeing one 10 second shot. i will never forget it.

It was a macabre invasion of privacy that went beyond all neccesity. I have e.mailed them with my views.

I am a 30 year old bloke and don’t concider myself to be easily shocked.

Sky News’ coverage has been used on Fox News.

Being at work during the day, thankfully about 200 miles away from London, I have missed the coverage during thw day. But I have watched the various news networks for updates.

Needless to say this has been covered, obviously on all UK networks, but also CNN, Fox and Al Jazeera.

Martin Popplewell is live in Russell SQ, he was just doing a 2-way with Mark Longhurst, when a member of the public tried to become between Martin and the camera, Martin continued taking whist pushing the guy out of the way, Police then came to sort the guy out.

How long before one of the ‘ambulance chasing’ legal scum, invariably led by Ms Christian, seek to represent a victim sueing LT for not taking ‘reasonable care’?

Imran Khan, with the human rights/racialism angle, to defend the perpetrators in court….5/1 on.

    Cheers

Hazel live in vision at 2325. Latest pictures from Birmingham shown at around 2300 onward (from earlier) – both events still a first across the news channels, bbc & itv have no pictures and no live reporters.

..and also, some really good, efficient reporting – laid out all the facts and the important information & well delivered. good job.

oh & also, Hazel & Sky have shown a press conference by west mid police asst chief, which no one else has. ..stick with sky for the very latest..!

and to reply to caseymorris, I thought I knew which bit of footage you were talking about as C4 News aired it at sometime after 7pm but I checked my recording of News24 and yep, at 1150 they aired very graphic footage of a man who may or may not be alive today – that’s not really very nice & it’s also the same reason the SkyCopter wasn’t allowed to fly to Russell Sq/Tavistock Sq at 1000 as it would have been a scene of carnage & hellish human pain.

Sky News coverage of the London Bombs aftermath for Saturday 10th July:

Mark White, Joey Jones and Victoria Bryning – live from Tavistock Square
Mike McCarthy – live from King’s Cross Station
Martin Brunt – live from the Queen Elizabeth II Centre
Jon Craig – live from Downing Street

*Also, I wonder why Sky have had to use Manchester-based reporters such as Mike McCarthy and Paul Harrison to cover the story? Surely they must have enought staff in London who would be better positioned to cover the situation?

Hi there to all of you in the UK,

My name is gili and i’m from Israel, london attack has been all over the news here on the last few days, and the latest headline here is that Blair is “blaming” us for the attacks, first i wanted to tell to the british people that israelis feel sympaty with the you after the attacks, and that we feel sorry for it and we hope you’ll catch the people responsible for it,
at first i was amazed by the respond of Blair, admairing the cool respond,
but i must say that i’m angry about the latest headline ! Israel is not the reason for those attacks, the reason is hidden in the minds of those fanatics terrorists, and there CAN NOT BE any JUSTIFICATION for terror EVER,
wated also to add that the british people got them thelves involved with the american war in Iraq and that what probably put them in the meadle of it.

i’m sorry for and English mistakes ! waiting to hear what you are thinking . . .

LOVE & PEACE for ALL .

I was not aware that Tony Blair had blamed Israel for the attacks. It seems unlikely.

Ken Livingstone has reportedly opened a book of condolence in London. It’s only a small gesture of solidarity, but does anyone know if there is some way (presumably electronic) that people living abroad could “sign” the book ? Many of us do not live near British Embassies or Consulates.

A house in Leeds is currently surrounded by armed police. A press conference is set to take place in London and West Yorkshire later today. Sky’s Shirley Lewis is making her way to the scene.

Edit: About 500 people have been evacuated from their homes and businesses in Leeds.
