Peter Sissons

Peter Sissons currently presents the 1-7pm slot on Saturdays and 4-7pm slot on Sundays on the BBC News Channel.

Peter joined the BBC in 1989 as the presenter of Question Time, as well as joint presenter of the Six O’clock News. In 1994, he moved to present the BBC’s Nine o’clock News and, along with Michael Buerk, oversaw the bulletins moved to Ten O’clock. Peter stepped down from this role in 2002 and began presenting on BBC News 24 during the Iraq War in 2003.

In 1964 he joined ITN as a writer, becoming a reporter in 1967.In 1969 he was appointed ITN’s news editor, becoming industrial correspondent a year later, and industrial editor in 1972. His first role as a news anchor came in 1978, when he began presenting ITN’s News At One. When Channel 4 was launched in 1982 he was chosen to present their 7pm news programme and in 1984 he was named by the Broadcasting Press Guild as the Best Front Of Camera Performer.

After 14 years with the BBC, Peter Sissons has become one of the best-known faces on British TV.
