The News at Ten showdown between the BBC and ITV is no more — well at least not for the next eight weeks.

From tonight, ITV News at Ten will be shown at 10.30pm to make way for a new nightly entertainment show. The show will run for eight weeks from Monday to Friday with a different host each week.

Sky News, however, is re-launching its News at 10 programme with a new-look set and a focus on content from the Sky News team of specialists.

The programme, which will run advert-free from 10-10.30pm, comes from Sky’s new glass box studio based in Sky Studios in Osterley, west London.

“Due to recent changes in terrestrial schedules we have been given a brilliant opportunity to launch a new look News at 10,” said Cristina Nicolotti Squires, Director of Content at Sky News.

“We will be providing viewers with a precise and polished programme featuring the major news stories of the day with the best analysis and exclusives from our team of experts.”

The new programme will be followed by the popular SkyPapers, a review of the following day’s newspapers with different guest contributors at 10.30pm and 11.30pm.

ITV says the Nightly Show is a host a week, a show a day, a laugh a minute and will be recorded ‘as live’ each day.

Award winning comedian and writer David Williams hosts the first week of live shows which promise a high tempo mixture of topical monologue, studio games, celebrity guests, stand up and VT’s.
