I?m back from holiday where I had the international version of Sky News. For those who can?t receive, it here are the key points.
Clock is replaced with only a Sky News logo (as in the TOTH sequence)
Adverts are replaced with text stories and Sky News adverts. I only saw two actual adverts which were not sky news based.
In the ad breaks they generally follow this sequence:
Sky News logo shrinks and moves to top corner, backing music plays
3 headlines presented in summary
3 headlines are shown with text and picture
Music stops, pauses and changes to sport (I think it is the same as the music played in the sport update)
Closer to India advert (EVERY AD BREAK!)
Back to headlines and sport stories
The text seems to come from the web, as occasionally a cricket story would end with ?Click here for our scoreboard?
I only saw two other sky news adverts. The technology advert with a different sound track and a different advert altogether.
This other advert contained clips of the actual new ident and the new end bit where sky news appears. The ad starts with David Chater when the troops arrived in Baghdad then several other clips. Presenters say:
Jeremy T: ?In the heat of the moment?
Kay B ?In the line of fire?
Mark L ?In search of the truth?
Jeremy T ?In depth?
Kay B ?International?
Julie E ?Breaking news?
Jeremy T ?Sky news brings you closer?
Voiceover ?For more information on how to receive sky news please contact your cable or satellite provider?
or is Sky News international taken by other channels (Like Sky news is on some local channels- like Six TV in Oxford who show Sky news when they dont have programmes or during big breaking stories) so the ad might be to inform viewers of how they can view all the time?
In SA, there aren’t any Sky ads. Each break which is sometimes cut right in mid sentence is filled with musak so I guess we don’t get Sky Intl. It’s part of a total package that includes BBC World and CNN Intl. Only the latter has promos. It now costs too much for most people but I hope that Sky don’t cut their feed.
lots of football taken from Sky so maybe they won’t!
