I think its a breakthrough that SNI will be covering the budget, this is the first time, to my knowlege that SNI have cut into London. I hope they will see sense and soon make continuous evening news 7 days a week.
I hop they will see sense and make continuous evening news but put it on the Active service and let us see the SkyNewsUk we were used to!
But you dont have access to active, you’re a cable guy, right?
So – put sky news UK on active and Sky News ?ire as normal.
— by the way – you spelt hope wrong – he he he – you “hop” the have continuous news?
– Listen, mate, I know well it was a typo, but in future, don’t go around pointing out others’ typos when it appears you make them yourself.
is the budget going to be shown on snuk tv tomorrow or just here?
the coverage is great however i’m sure newsroom will have something to complain about. The only thing i found wrong with it is the state of your mans voice who said”skyn ewsi reland budget special with grainne seoige” and the studio seemed a bit small brian daly was interviewing with the people on their pc’s. they should of got a bigger studio!
Well tippguy I agree with you with the voice thing. I’m sure its a computer thing that they type in what Mr. Sky says, however that voice yesterday wasn’t the real Mr. Sky. (Can the real Mr. Sky please stand up!) – Maybe he’s kicked the bucket! – Oh and why didn’t they say Briuan Daly aswell? He was co-presenting it!!!!!!
Well I thought the coverage overall was excellent I watched it myself up to point when I remembered that the producers are idiot – why didn’t they show the opposition speeches?
They started at three which was a good idea because talking to people in the office today, a lot of them watched it on Sky News! – As far as I’m aware, Sky started their broadcast before RT? and I’m sure they’ll be rewarded with extra viewer ratings because of that. – HOWEVER, there were quite a lot of editorial errors, such as Healy reporting from Tullamore – LOL – it was worse than a web-cam at times!
During the budget I stayed tuned to Sky News mainly because they were putting up the key points on the screen as he called them out, I’m glad that they’ve kept the typical Sky News format. A lot of the analysis was very good. The economists and accountants were great guests andI liked the way they kept bringing in the various interest groups, they did that very well. However, Eibhileen is a bad presenter – good reporter but bad presenter, they shouldn’t have had her repotting from limerick (her guests were speaking better than her! ! !).
It all turned rather sad when they finished at 5:30. So the state broadcaster keeps going until 7 but Sky News, the 24 hour news channel shuts off at 5:30!, telling you to come back for more at 7!!!! – why ddin’t they keep going? They could have shown the opposition speaches and then brough in their various interest groups constantly until 7:30, also going back repeating the news too, but they didn’t!!!
However , all on all, this has proved something – Sky News Ireland are capable of rolling a continuous news. – they should do that in the evening. They should start before the first bulletin on tv3 @ 5:30 and end at 11PM. – Hire more journalists and newscasters.
– The thing is, however great yesterday might have bean, you still have to wait until 7PM tonight to watch SNI, I on the other hand will tune into RTE @ 6.1 and therefore will not watch Sky News tonight and if I want more Irish news, I’ll tune into RTE @9PM! – If SNI had a continuous rolling news, I wouldn’t watch it instead of RTE either! – they need more journalists aswell, they don’t have enough.
So tippguy, basically Sky expect you to wait until 7 to watch Sky News and then tune into their competitors at the week-end ! – it just doesn’t work!!!
Gr?inne seemed quite happy rolling a continuous news, why cant they do it, even if they keep repeating themselves on the half hour for 4 hours, why not do it?
Oh and by the way, newsroom, if your reading this, do you dislike Gr?inne? Because everyone I know, man and woman love Gr?inne as a lovely person, great presenter and interviewer.
ya the sni coverage from tullamore was a joke and in all fairness it was pointless. Also it was like sni were getting people off the streets of dublin for their interviewing. At one point grainne said “i am joined now by” and waited for your one to introduce herself. But all in all it proves that sni are capable of being on the air 24/7. Brian Daly is an eqally good presenter and both him and grainne together would make a great team. But mr.byrne your right about the weekend news. people are’nt going to watch a different station during the week and at the weekend. thats where sni have slipped up. Even tv3 have something. And if they were to work together during the week and get someone else for weekends sni would then be contenders for ratings. But sni really do need a bigger studio and more staff. at night there are only 1 or two people behind grainne. no wonder everything goes wrong. SNI need to advertise if they want to have viewers. When eamon dunphy went in competition against pat kenny last year he advertised everywhere except on rte. he had billboards, ad’s in newspaers, on tv3, and even at the ireland matches in landsdowne so if he can think of it surley sni can too.
But i no people like newsroom are going to have complaints but before ye do just remember if ye don’t want to watch sni just change your [B][SIZE=7]FREQUENCEY
is there any way of finding out how many people watched the sni budget coverage?
I think that the company that counts the ratings in Ireland is called “Nielson” something like that. I don’t know id there is anyway to find out, unless you want to phone them up and say that you’re an Important Tipperary businessman and want to put an add on and ask them how much viewers it would get
