BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker is leaving the BBC to join Channel 5.
He will present their flagship news programme, 5 News and a slate of new shows on the channel.
“I can’t wait to get stuck into the daily news show but I am also excited about making some great new TV for Channel 5,” Dan said.
“I love their ideas and creativity and it’s rare to get an opportunity like this where paths and ambitions meet. The chance to do something different was too good to turn down.”
Dan joins Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije who co-presents 5 News. His arrival on the channel continues the evolution of the news on Channel 5. With up to 5.2 million viewers tuning in every week.
He presented Football Focus on the BBC from 2009 to 2021, and has presented BBC Breakfast since 2016.
Dan will replace Dr Sian Williams as lead presenter. Sian has presented 5 News since 2016 and announced in March that she would be stepping down from daily news presenting to take up more wide-ranging opportunities.
