Sky News appoints Andrew Bailey as Senior News Editor for Home News

Sky News has appointed Andrew Bailey as Senior News Editor for Home News.

Andrew joins the senior team who have responsibility for running the UK intake desk, driving the daily news agenda and delivering to all Sky News’ platforms.

Andrew Bailey said: “I’m really excited to join Sky News and to help set the daily agenda, especially as the newsroom looks to further develop and strengthen its digital journalism. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a very talented award-winning team.”

Andrew is currently Head of News, National Radio, at Bauer Media responsible for broadcast and digital news across Absolute Radio, KISS, Magic, Heart, Planet Rock and Kerrang! Andrew is also widely known as the newsreader or ‘Bails’ on Absolute Radio’s Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show.

He’s 18 years of experience as a journalist reporting from locations around the globe spans broadcast and digital media. Andrew has won a raft of British Radio Awards and Sony’s and was awarded the title “IRN newsreader of the Year” in 2014. He is also a lecturer and assessor of MA Broadcast Journalism students at City University.

“Andrew brings vast experience and award winning journalism to what is a key editorial role within Sky News. We are hugely excited to welcome him on board,” said Sarah Whitehead, Head of Home News and Deputy Head of News Gathering.

Andrew will take up his new role in the autumn.
