Grand National Festival – Liverpool Day live from Aintree – BBC Two, 1:40pm

The Grand National on the BBC

The countdown to the Grand National begins today with the first of three days of coverage from the famous Aintree race course in Liverpool.

The live programme, which begins at 1:40pm on BBC Two, features five races, including the Liverpool Hurdle which Big Buck’s won in 2011 for the third time in a row, as well as the John Smith’s Fox Hunters’ Chase – a race for amateur jockeys over the daunting Grand National fences.

Clare Balding and Rishi Persad will host the coverage from Aintree and will be joined by Mick Fitzgerald, Richard Pitman, Richard Dunwoody, John Parrott and Gary Wiltshire.

Race commentary comes from Jim McGrath, Ian Bartlett and Darren Owen.
