Brazil take on Belgium at the Kazan Arena in Russia this evening, as the line-up for the first semi-final is decided.

Brazil beat Mexico 2-0 in the second round to reach the quarter-finals for the seventh World Cup in a row, a run which stretches back to USA 1994 when they won the tournament.

The win against the Mexicans was their third consecutive 2-0 victory at these finals, after previously beating Serbia and Costa Rica in the group stage.

Belgium have also had an impressive run of form after winning all four of their games in Russia, scoring 12 goals and conceding four in those matches.

They made it through to the quarter-finals thanks to a 3-2 win against Japan, despite going 2-0 down early in the second half.

The Red Devils will be aiming to reach the semi-finals of a World Cup for only the second time in their history, the other occasion being at Mexico 1986 when they finished fourth.

This is just the fifth encounter between these two teams, and Brazil are currently on a three match winning streak against their European opponents, the last contest being a 2-0 triumph at the 2002 World Cup.

Roberto Martinez’s team are currently ranked third in the world, one place behind today’s opponents, and are looking for their first win against Brazil since a 5-1 hammering of the five-time World Cup winners in April 1963.

Coverage begins at 6.30pm on BBC One and BBC One HD, where Gary Lineker will be joined live in the studio by Alan Shearer, Jurgen Klinsmann and Rio Ferdinand.

Match commentary comes from Jonathan Pearce and Danny Murphy.

Kick-off 7.00pm

The match will also be shown live via the BBC iPlayer.
