The last 16 of World Cup 2018 continues this afternoon as Spain face Russia at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
A late equaliser against Morocco in the final round of fixtures saw Spain finish with five points from their three matches, which was only good enough to top the group ahead of Portugal owing to them having scored more goals than their Iberian rivals.
Interim coach Fernando Hierro will hope his team improve after an inconsistent start to the tournament, and will be encouraged to know the 2010 winners have a good record at this stage of the tournament, having only ever lost two last-16 encounters in their 15 appearances at the finals.
Russia surprised many pundits by making it to this stage after progressing from a tricky group that featured Uruguay, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
Their opening two fixtures saw The Golden Eagles score eight goals and pick up maximum points, but their final game against Uruguay resulted in a 3-0 loss to the South Americans, so fans of the host nation will be cautious when it comes to this clash.
Russia have failed to beat Spain since the break-up of the Soviet Union, having lost four and drawn two of the contests to have taken place since 1998, so will need to produce an unexpected result if they are to keep their World Cup dream alive.
The match will also be streamed live via the BBC iPlayer.
