The 2018 Boat Race will take place this Saturday – live on the BBC.
Clare Balding presents coverage of the men’s and women’s University Boat Races on the River Thames, as Oxford aim to retain the men’s title, and Cambridge the women’s.
This is the fourth time that both races will be taking place on the same afternoon and on the same course.
The course, known as the Championship Course is 4 miles, 374 yards or 6.8 Km long.
It stretches between Putney and Mortlake on the River Thames in South West London, where over 250,000 people are expected to line the banks.
This will be the 164th annual men’s boat race between the two University and the 73rd women’s contest.
TV Coverage starts at 3.50pm on BBC One and BBC One HD, where Clare will be joined by double Olympic gold medallist Helen Glover and Olympic champion Dame Katherine Grainger.
The women’s race is set to begin at precisely 4.31pm, while the men’s race will start at 5.32pm.
Commentary comes from Andrew Cotter and 2016 Olympic silver medallist Zoe de Toledo.
The men’s race also sees double Olympic champion and former Cambridge race winner Tom James in the commentary box with four-time Olympic gold medallist Matthew Pinsent reporting from out on the water.
Double Olympic medallist and three-time world champion George Nash and double Olympic medallist and two-time world champion Constantine Louloudis will also bring their insight from having rowed the race to the BBC team.
The women’s race sees additional reporting from Olympic silver medallist Cath Bishop, accompanied with Tom James out on the water and former Oxford rower Matthew Pinsent umpiring the race.
