Laurence is a correspondent for AJE based in London and has been a correspondent for Sky News, which includes working as a Russia correspondent.
Before joining, he worked at the BBC for ten years, beginning in local radio, where he did five years, and then moving on to regional television in Birmingham, where he worked for five more years as a presenter and reporter for Midlands Today.
Before that he studied Classics and French at Birmingham university.
Since at Sky, he lists his high points as reporting the sinking of the Kursk submarine from Murmansk in northern Russia and covering America’s reaction to the September 11 events from Washington.
He has also reported twice from the Middle East, including coverage of a spate of suicide bombings during which he gave an eyewitness account moments after a blast in a pizza restaurant in Jerusalem which killed 17.
In his spare time he is a keen golfer – having played for England boys and university teams – and a snowboarder. He has also run the London marathon.
