Age: 30
Skating with: Sylvain Longchambon

Number of times fell over on first day: None. I didn’t fall over for four weeks and then I had a big one!
Number of bruises so far: My hips are so painful that if I touch them with the tip of my finger, it hurts
Most embarrassing fear/dread for first live show: The judges
Dream celebrity skating partner: Coronation Street co-star Chris Fountain because he is my mate and he is brilliant at skating!

As one of Coronation Street’s biggest stars, Samia Ghadie is used to nerves and the pressure of performing, but she reveals doing a live soap episode all day long, seven days a week is easier than performing on Dancing on Ice.

Smiling, Samia – who has played Maria for 13 years in the popular ITV1 soap – admits learning to skate has been both a terrifying, but an exciting new challenge that has taken the TV actress way out of her comfort zone.

“Dancing on Ice is way harder than acting,” she says. “I would rather do live episodes all day long, seven days a week than this. But I don’t mean that in a bad way. I am far more at home with acting and learning to skate is a big challenge for me. I think it is great to do something that scares you. It’s brilliant fun.”
