Eurovision Song Contest 2013: Live on BBC One, 8pm

The 2013 Eurovision Song Contest takes place from the Malmo Arena in Sweden this evening.

All eyes will be on Welsh powerhouse Bonnie Tyler, who is aiming to become the first UK winner since 1997 with her country ballad Believe in Me, and Ireland’s Ryan Dolan – who made it through Tuesday’s semi-final.

However, they are likely to face stiff competition from the other 24 countries, including Sweden’s Robin Stjernberg and Spain’s ESDM, who both serve up power ballads; Germany’s Cascada, confident a dance track will garner the honours; and France’s Amandine Bourgeois, who brings to mind Amy Winehouse with her bluesy guitar number L’enfer et Moi.

Bonnie said: “I am truly honoured and delighted to be able to represent the United Kingdom at Eurovision, and especially with such a fabulous song. I promise to give this everything that I’ve got for the UK!”

Graham Norton is in the commentary hot seat as the contest is broadcast live on BBC One and BBC One HD from 8pm.. Viewers can access lyrics to all songs and send comments via the Red Button.
