Glee star Jane Lynch has announced that she is getting divorced from her wife Lara Embry.
Lynch, who plays aggressive cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester on the hit TV show, told People magazine: “Lara and I have decided to end our marriage.
“This has been a difficult decision for us as we care very deeply about one another. We ask for privacy as we deal with this family matter.”
Jane and Lara met at a 2009 fundraiser in San Francisco at which Embry was being honored. Shortly after confirming their engagement, the women married on Memorial Day in 2010 in an intimate ceremony in Massachusetts.
Lynch is currently spending her summer hiatus from Glee on Broadway where she is playing Miss Hannigan in the revival of Annie. No announcement has been made yet about whether or not Jane will be apart of the fifth season of Glee, which airs at the end of 2013.
