Popstar and TV host Olly Murs may quit the Xtra Factor in order to tour with fellow former X Factor contestants, One Direction.
The 2009 X Factor runner-up, who is currently taking part in his own UK arena tour, joined the X Factor spin-off show for last year’s series alongside Caroline Flack.
But since then Olly’s music career has taken off and he is planning to launch his career in America by joining One Direction as a support act on their U.S. Tour.
The band – Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan – who came third on the 2010 series of the X Factor are on their first U.S. tour with their management planning on releasing even more tour dates.
A source told The Sun: Olly wants to crack America — and who can blame him for that? The One Direction lads are going down a storm over there so their management are looking at getting them back out there as soon as possible after their current tour finishes on Friday.
“Olly’s team are still working on a US launch date for his album, In Case You Didn’t Know. The ideal time would coincide with a tour.
“But by attempting that he just will not be around to do the Xtra Factor audition stuff.
“It’s quite a crucial show nowadays and can get up to three million people watching, so producers really want him to do it.”
The X Factor returns to ITV later this year.
