Sir Tom Jones and The Script frontman Danny O’Donoghue complete the coaching line-up for the new BBC reality TV show, ‘The Voice UK’.
Sir Tom and Danny will join Jessie J and will.i.am on the coaching panel.
Tom Jones’s music career started in 1965 with the worldwide hit “Its Not Unusual”, and continues to this day with his most critically acclaimed work, “Praise & Blame” in 2010.
Since the 1960’s he has sung nearly every form of popular music – pop, rock, R&B, show tunes, country, dance, techno, soul and gospel. He has sold over 100 million records and is the recipient of a BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, a Silver Clef Award for Lifetime Achievement, the Hitmaker Award from the US Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the UK Music Industry Trust Award.
Sir Tom said: “I’m excited about The Voice, and thrilled to be participating as a coach. This is a strong show; it’s all about talent – but it’s also exciting, competitive and compelling television. I’ve been blessed over the years to share the stage with some of the worlds finest artists, and I look forward to being part of the team that discovers a great, new, genuine talent.”
Danny O’Donoghue is the lead singer of The Script, whose self-titled 2008 debut album went to number one in UK and Ireland. They have since sold over 3.5 million albums worldwide and five million singles in the US, played stadium shows with Take That, Paul McCartney and their mentors, U2.
“I’m a massive fan of The Voice, so to be involved as a coach is amazing,” said Danny.
“This is a show unlike any other because it puts vocal ability first above all else. I look forward to putting my team together and battling it out with the other coaches to see who wins this unique, credible competition. I’m in it to win it!”
The Voice UK will be presented by Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates and is slated for Spring 2012 on BBC One and BBC One HD.
