Why is there such blanket coverage of this tonight? It has now been on Sky News non-stop for 3 hours. Is there nothing else going on in the world? I know it is a very serious breach of palace security, but please, enough is enough. Thank goodness Eastenders will be on soon!
Sorry to be unsophisticated, but I’d’ve thought that so much coverage would only encourage more of these guys to do more of these stunts… and one day, it’s going to end badly. Just like there’s obviously an agreement not to show streakers – even the pretty ones! – at sports events (not for the sake of prudishness but so as not to encourage others from doing it), surely this sort of non-life-or-death event should be played down a bit.
I would expect that Sky will use Skycopter on more serious matters, such as Glasgow explosion or floods in Cornwall,…but today 80 million people all over the world had to watch non-stop live report about Batman standing on Palace most of the afternoon,…and NOW Sky decided to use Skycopter!? They can’t be serious! ________ Tanya
rob237+Sep 13 2004, 07:42 PM–>(rob237 @ Sep 13 2004, 07:42 PM) It’s overall ‘news’ coverage is fast becoming ‘Mickey Mouse meets Donald Duck’, putting even GMTV into the shade.
I actually have to disagree with you here completely. GMTV has the best morning news coverage. It is watchable (to be honest ‘Sunrise’ is not what you want to see when you first wake up), the presenters are very warm, friendly but also informative and the content of the news they cover is the best ‘morning’ mix; latest news, sport, entertainment, lifestyle and some other ‘news stories’ that wouldn’t necessarily make the BBC Six O’Clock News!
Thats why presenters such as Penny Smith and Kate Garraway move from Sky to GMTV.
Easty+Sep 15 2004, 05:20 PM–>(Easty @ Sep 15 2004, 05:20 PM) i loved the Sky Coverage! It was ace – the Skycopter was amazing and Martin Brunt in the ground was good too. I Thought the newsdesk did a poor job of getting good interviews for Sky.
They couldn’t exactly get her majesty on the blower though, could they.
I suppose the reason why they gave it so much coverage was the fact that the stupid man was actually ON the building. As said above, it’s really quite serious given that Osama Bin Laden could get one of his mates to do the same and blow the place up.
Following this afternoon’s events in Parliament, one wonders whether the government WANT a terrorist attack to happen, because obviously the security isn’t up to scratch.
