    Not enough after match coverage

Also when teams are celebrating at the end why do they have to cut back to the studio so we can see the experts chat, why cant they just talk over the celebration pictures

After the match i turned to sky sports news and saw nigel winterburn giving the most biased commentory. Worse than Matt Le Tiss.

He said the ref had a bad game cos he sent reyas off.

Very disappointed with the coverage of today’s match.

Richard Keys opened the show with – ‘this is one of the most eagerly awaited cup finals in recent history?.
Totally agree. So why was it only given 30 minutes build-up and about 5 minutes at the end?

Last season ? Man Utd v Millwall ? the preview started straight after Soccer AM at Noon and I was astonished the same wasn?t done today.

I am all for Sky showing the play-offs from League 2, but today, it just messed up the Cup final, which should not have happened. The 2 play-off matches meant inadequate build-up and poor full-time analysis.

IF the same is to happen next year, I suggest they play-offs are on a different channel, or one is played on the Friday night and the other on Sunday.

It was great to hear Tyler and Grey in commentary ? hopefully the same for Wednesday night.
Also, disappointed with the studio guests. In previous years, Graeme Souness, Harry Redknapp and George Graham have provided the punditry. Nothing against Sheringham or Quinn, but I think they are a bit bland and ?boring? to listen to.

Sorry to say it, but apart from commentary, BBC provided much better coverage.

    Rant Over.

Yes, I’ve got to agree that the Sky coverage was poor TODAY. I don’t think the Sky people thought the match would go into extra-time.

It would have been better if the match didn’t go to the extra period. But because of the extra-time/penalties – the coverage was destroyed. They should have moved the play-off matches to one of the other Sky Sports channels!

In the past – Sky used to have hours of build up to the FA Cup final, i hope this is a one-off!!

Then again – you’ve got to congratulate them for what looks like a great build up to the Champions’ League Final. Preview programme with Richard and Andy on Tuesday and the coverage of the Final on Wednesday starting at 6pm!

Yes, I agree the Champions League final will be covered in greater detail & in the best possible way by Sky Sports. Looking forward to it.

But as Smiffy said earlier, why was the Lincoln v Macclesfield play off semi not played last night? Sky had shown a play off game every day since Thursday 12th so why was there a gap day? Normally I have no reason to moan about the coverage Sky provide, but today wiser decisions could have been made.

Also I thought they might have done what they did last Sunday & give viewers extra reaction if they pressed red once the play off game was on.

The problem is that they were, as always, sharing coverage of the final with the Beeb. On this occasion the terrestrial broadcaster gives over plenty of time for the build up – that is unusual, probably why Sky are putting effort into the Champions Leaugue final. I would imagine that traditionally Sky’s viewing figures haven’t been that great for the cup final. Perhaps the thinking was that the ‘real’ footy fan that doesn’t give a toss about what the pundits have to say and just wants to watch football would appreciate seeing the play-off game, as an alternative to the Beeb. The viewing figures wii bare this out and undoubtedly determine next years coverage.

Yes, I’ve got to agree that the Sky coverage was poor TODAY………..

IMO, the BBC coverage was also poor……..

Primarily, because the Lineker, Hansen, Lawrenson trio were saddled with the ultra boring, and yet over excitable, John Motson [10 years past his ‘sell by date’], the inept Peter Schmeichal plus that lunatic and peurile idiot, Ian Wright.

3 passengers in a team of 6….too much to carry.

I was in Cardiff, so I didn’t see any of the coverage but I’ve always thought the BBC’s coverage has generally been far superior to Sky’s to be completely honest. One thing that REALLY gets to me about Sky is that they say something like “Wow, something really interesting has just happened and we’ve got full coverage of it!”… and then they go to a commercial break! In the end, instead of keeping you watching, you just turn over to the Beeb to watch uninterrupted coverage.

As for Ian Wright, yes he’s biased, and yes he’s a bit of a loon but he’s a Gooner legend so I will never get tired of watching him (especially when he refers to Arsenal as “us”!)

Yes the build up etc. was way too short. Sky’s Cup Final build up is normally brilliant, they used to start even earlier, with a Good Morning From Cardiff programme at 8.30 a few years ago.

Looking forward to the Champions League though, hopefully Andy Gray and Martyn Tyler will do that one too.
