How did you get started in broadcasting?
Ran a restricted service licence radio station at university

Why News broadcasting?
I started off doing the PR for the student radio station but thought that the news reporters looked as though they were having more fun, so i went and joined them.

Where else would have viewers seen or heard you before?
I did a couple of pieces for Channel 5 News when it started up, and Sky News where I worked for a couple of years.

What is your Best on-air moment?
Working just as a two-woman team, managing to get all the technology working to file pieces for all outlets from the middle of Hurricane Stan in southern Mexico and Guatemala.

What is your Worst on-air moment?
When in Baghdad live on BBC World I said the upcoming Iraqi erections instead of elections.

What would you like to do before your career ends?
See more female correspondents being sent to cover the big breaking foreign stories.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Surf – anywhere and all the time.

What advice would you give to anyone that would like to get into the broadcasting world?
Keep a work/life balance and if you’re not given them, then make your own opportunities.
