Is the MMR safe? Would your child or has your child had the MMR?

A study was published in The Lancet in 1998 by Dr Andrew Wakefield and colleagues at London’s Royal Free Hospital which led to fears of a possible link between the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine and autism.

But now Doubts have been cast over the research which first sparked fears over the safety of the MMR vaccine.

The editor of the leading medical journal which published the claims said he regrets doing so.

This comes at a time when the Government is battling to reassure parents the vaccine is safe, with a growing number refusing to trust the treatment.

    So what are your Views?

Two children I know are autistic and their parents blame it on MMR. What I don’t understand is why it has to be administered as a 3 in 1, rather than as individual vaccines. Is that cost-driven?

Having said that, nearly all drugs and vaccines have potentially dreadful side effects. Are there any stats on how many lives the vaccine saves?

Britain’s such a relatively safe country to live in that people always look to blame something or someone whenever anything happens, and the media do love a health scare….Johnnie, you should add a “don’t know” or “I’m not sure” as a poll option!

Sorry Kenny, but most don’t have the luxury of choice Mr Blair has seen to that.

And as to being safe if there were no concerns wouldn’t Tony be falling over himself to tell us all that Leo had his vaccination!
