How did you get started in Broadcasting?
0898 telephone services (horoscopes etc) then local radio.

When was that?
1987 (0898 services) then 1988 Capital Radio, London.

Why news/weather broadcasting?
I fell into it! I was offered a job in the news dept of Capital radio (rather then music).

Where else would have viewers seen or heard you before?
Meridian TV (1998-2000), BBC News24 (current), BBC Newsroom SE .

What is your Best on-air moment?
interviewing Prince Philip (Meridian) or Barry Manilow (Newsroom SE) – take your pick! .

What is your Worst on-air moment?
handing back with a SMILE after a live report from St Paul’s Cathedral, on the day of Princess Diana’s death (it was relief that my interviewee had turned up AT ALL, I think, as he was nowhere to be seen when I started talking) .

What would like to do before your career ends?
THIS you call a career!!?

What do you like to do in your spare time?
cook, write for magazines, socialise…

What advice would you give to anyone that would like to get into the broadcasting world?
Get yourself looking/sounding the best that you can and start freelance, or even work for free – I did even in my early 30s if there was somewhere I REALLY wanted to work.
