LOL. The British public doesn't dislike him because he's on drugs. It's just a convenient stick to batter him with.

I never said that it was because he was on drugs.

And as you can see, I've changed my mind about the "being conned" thing...

No, you said you hoped the public didn't dislike her as they did him, and they don't dislike him because of the drugs, so why would they mind that with her? It's not as if anyone cares about her doing the dirty on Prince Edward.

I never said that her colleagues might dislike her because of drugs.

You implied that you were worried that her colleagues might dislike her as they do James Hewitt - presumably because of this incident, or because she had a fling with a royal. You did draw a comparison between her situation and that of James Hewitt, so what exactly were you talking about?

That I was worried about what Alison's colleagues might think of her, in general.

>>In the end, I doubt they will be able to prosecute her as a dealer and give her a life sentence, or even ten years - that is simply tabloid sensationalism

if you read the statement from the sun....

From the Sun "Bell faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment if convicted of supplying cocaine. But if both admit the offences police have the discretion to offer them a caution."

This is not sensationalism, it's just a statement of fact.

More likely, they will both get a caution (as it says also).

I must have been on another planet at some point... what's this about Prince Edward? Are we talking pre-Sophie days? Are we talking "someone has evidence he's not gay"? Can someone fill me in please?

Apart from that, I liked Alison. She has a very nice voice and seems to have a warm personality. I haven't seen much of her on CNN - I can't bear Richard Quest - but I can't see how a serious news anchor can risk having a relationship with such a high-profile individual as Hewitt without seeing the possibility of repercussion on her career.

According to The Sun (via Bell's ex-husband) - Prince Eddie "popped Alison's cherry" when she was 16 and living in New Zealand

Heh, wow!

And people thought Jaquie Beltrao was a wee bit racy because she sometimes wears something resembling lingerie as a blouse/top
