Sky News Australia, at 8:30pm tonight following the launch of Foxtel Digital, and Sky News Active launched an awesome new look. Its hard to explain... similar to the old opens but updated and more realistic. Instead of "SKy News" flying in, it sort of revolves out.

No new astons though, same ones as launched in Jan 04.

Weather graphics remain the same.

I dont yet have Sky News Australia Active, but a friend will tomorrow night so will have some details to share soon.

Here's something I found on my site.

I like the 'idea' of the new titles, but find that the quality of the graphics that they have got are pretty poor, the lighting over the earth isn't a bit as nice as the old ones, the earth rotates oddly, and a bad base map. Great concept, just needs a bit better execution.

I like the bit before the headlines, but also find the second bit too dark. Do they still have a something like this at the start?

Nope. Unfortunately the countdown has gone. Shame really.

They've been doing alot more of their own reports now, which is good. They do a great job of Business coverage with about 5-6 reporters, but their news coverage isnt great.

Federal Politics is covered extemely well.

Will there be any previews of the new set to the general public?
