Andrew Harding is a news reporter for the BBC.
He was one of the first foreign reporters to reach Aceh after the Asian tsunami. He has also reported undercover from Burma and the Philippines.
He also covered the earthquake in Java, internet suicide groups in Japan, and Sri Lanka’s civil war.
Andrew began his career as a freelancer in Moscow, before moving to the Caucasus. He was nominated for a Bayeux Award for his television work in Chechnya. In 1996 he became the BBC’s Moscow correspondent. Four years later he moved to East Africa, covering wars in Congo, Somalia, Liberia, and Darfur.
He was embedded with British forces during the Iraq war.
In 2000 he won a Foreign Press Award and the Bayeux Award for his reports on the conflict northern Uganda.
