Mark Austin has joined Sky News on a one year contract as US Correspondent.

The former ITV News Presenter joins Sky News at a time when US politics has never been so high on the news agenda, bringing his award-winning experience to an already stellar team of US correspondents in Washington, New York and Los Angeles.

Mark will be based in Washington where he’ll cover the latest news from The White House and Capitol Hill, as well as being deployed across the US on other major stories.

“The Trump Presidency is one of the most extraordinary stories of our time,” said Mark.

“I want to go back on the road so where better to do it than America, when better to do it than now and who better to do it for than Sky, an organisation with news at its very heart.”

He joins Sky News from ITN where over three decades he presented the News at Ten and the Evening News at 6.30pm, often on location from around the world including the Antarctic, Iraq, Libya, Haiti, Nepal and Mogadishu.

Mark has been named the RTS Presenter of the Year twice, won five BAFTA awards, an international Emmy for his reporting on the devastating floods in Mozambique, and a Golden Nymph for his coverage of the war in Kosovo.

Jonathan Levy, Director of News Gathering and Operations at Sky News, added: “Mark is one of the most talented journalists of his generation.

“He will become a key member of our world-class US team at a time when US politics has never been more exciting or divisive; I know he will do an outstanding job.”
