Matt Barbet is to return to Channel 5 News to present the refreshed 6:30pm programme: 5 News Tonight.
After two years at ITV presenting Daybreak, Matt returns to present 5 News Tonight with Emma Crosby remaining the presenter on 5 News at 5.
“I’m really happy to be returning to Channel 5 at what is a very exciting time for the network.” Matt said.
“The news has always been an innovative and well-regarded jewel in its crown, and I’m looking forward to working with a few familiar faces once again, as well as many new ones.”
Matt’s return coincides with a refresh of the 5 News format with a rebranding of the 6:30pm news programme. The show will include reports from correspondents, live updates and Matt will interview top news guests on the stories which matter to the Channel 5 audience.
“I’m very excited about returning Matt to the 5 News family,” said Cristina Nicolotti Squires, 5 News Editor.
“He is a broadcaster with that rare combination of warmth and authority that is such a hallmark of 5 News. His appointment means we can do more with both of our news shows and I’m sure the viewers will be glad to see him back too”.
Matt will start back at 5 News from Monday 28th April.
