Sky News has appointed Toby Sculthorp as Producer/Director to focus on developing long form journalism programming.
Following the success of in depth specials on major stories over the last 18 months including programmes on the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attacks, the missing Malaysian Airlines flight and the Oscar Pistorius trial, Toby will develop new documentary ideas on big news events and current issues.
Toby joins Sky News from Keo Films where he is in charge of current affairs programming. Over the past 25 years he has made BAFTA and RTS award winning films for BBC Panorama and Channel 4 Dispatches including the Secret Policeman, one of the BBC’s most high profile documentaries of recent times.
“The popularity of long form programming that gives our customers an in depth overview of the biggest stories in the news is growing at speed. We want to offer special documentary style coverage that is distinct and ground breaking,” said John Ryley, Head of Sky News.
“Toby has formidable experience in domestic and international documentaries, drama documentaries, and specialist factual ?and I look forward to him joining the team to help make our coverage across all platforms even more captivating.”
Toby will lead a long form team at Sky News whose appointments will be announced in the coming weeks.
