State Opening of Parliament 2017 – Live TV Coverage on BBC, Sky News

The 2017 State Opening of Parliament takes place at the Palace of Westminster today (21 June).

It marks the formal start of the parliamentary year and will be Theresa May’s first Queen’s Speech as Prime Minister. The speech will set out the government’s agenda for the coming session, outlining proposed policies and legislation.

The event combines politics and pageantry to mark the first day, and will be attended by the Queen, who has only ever missed two opening ceremonies during her reign.

Live TV Coverage will be available on BBC One, BBC News Channel, BBC Parliament and Sky News.

Huw Edwards presents the BBC’s coverage from 10.30am on BBC One and BBC News Channel. He’ll be joined throughout the programme by political editor Laura Kuenssberg and chief political correspondent Vicki Young

Sky’s coverage will be fronted by Adam Boulton and Faisal Islam from 10am.

Coverage will also be streamed live on the BBC News and Sky News websites.
