Sky Sports presenter Jo Wilson has been diagnosed with cervical cancer.
Jo, who has worked for Sky Sports News since 2011, was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer this summer and is undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment.
Speaking to OK! magazine, Jo said: “The last person in the public eye with cervical cancer was Jade Goody.
“After Jade’s death, more women went for smear tests, but now one in three who are eligible don’t go. I really want to change that.
“If I can save just one other life by being open about my battle then it’s worth speaking out.”
Jo graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a Masters in journalism in 2011 then started as a Graduate Trainee at Sky Sports News, before becoming a sub editor then getting promoted to co-producer.
This led her to making her screen debut as a presenter on Sky Sports News in 2015.
Jo lives in the Cotswolds with her partner of six years, Dan, and daughter Mabel who is two-years-old this month.
The TV Newsroom wishes Jo a speedy recovery.
