Where are you from?
Born and bred in Middlesbrough but moved to Oxfordshire at the age of 14.

How did you get started in Broadcasting?
I did a couple of weeks work experience at the Cumberland News, a weekly paper based in Carlisle. After that the editor was brave enough to take a risk — and give me a job.

When was that?
26 year ago

Why News broadcasting?
I love the variety and how each day is different.

Where else would have viewers seen or heard you before?
I worked at BBC Radio Merseyside in Liverpool, then BBC Radio Manchester (Now GMR)

I also worked on a Radio 4 investigative programme called Face the Facts before joining Central television in Birmingham. I’ve been at Sky for ten years.

What is your Best on-air moment?
Reporting live on the return of refugess into post-war Kosovo after viewing so much suffering.

What is your Worst on-air moment?
Having to report that the bodies of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman had been found.

What would you like to do before your career ends?
Write a book.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spend time with my children.

What advice would you give to anyone that would like to get into the broadcasting world?
Be determined. Make sure you know what all the different organisations and job titles mean and represent. There are many different facets to this industry.
