Where are you from?
How did you get started in Broadcasting?
I came from a broadcasting family; both my father and uncle did a huge amount of radio and television work. I attended drama school briefly, very briefly and then auditioned for Central Television in place of someone who was ill. The rest is history!
When was that?
Why news/weather broadcasting?
When East Midlands Today (BBC) launched in 1990, I was working for BBC Radio Lincolnshire as a presenter. However, their appointed weather presenter decided to go and work elsewhere with only a fortnight or so to on-air. I agreed to go and do the weather for them – working alongside the Met Office and ended up staying until 1994 – when I joined the Sky team.
Where else would have viewers seen or heard you before?
Central Television (Magic Micro Mission) (Soapsuds) and their feedback programme. BBC Radio Lincolnshire, East Midlands Today, Central Continuity…
What is your Best on-air moment?
Hope it hasn’t happened yet….
What is your Worst on-air moment?
Realising on live television that the weather forecast was next – only to look down and find that the notes I had taken were all in shorthand. And I couldn’t read it back!
What would like to do before your career ends?
Establish something else to do!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spend time with my family and dogs.
What advice would you give to anyone that would like to get into the broadcasting world?
Have you thought about medicine?
A big thanks to Jo for taking part.
