Sally Anne Mules
Where are you from?
How did you get started in broadcasting?
I always dreamt of “reading the news” as a child, so I started on the journalism path after university, first in newspapers (Times and Sunday Telegraph) then Radio (Swiss Radio International in Bern) and then knocked on every Granada and Carlton newsroom door until an editor gave me a job – ITV Westcountry were the first to give in!!!
When was that?
Why News broadcasting?
It’s exciting, fun, challenging, varied and gets the adrenaline going. It’s great to be paid to be nosey and ask questions.
Where else would have viewers seen or heard you before?
As a writer for the Times Diary and Sunday Telegraph Mandrake columns and they’ll have heard me on the airwaves for Swiss Radio International.
What is your Best on-air moment?
Co-presenting my first flagship regional news show – “Central News at Six”– the sheer thrill and buzz was overwhelming.
What is your Worst on-air moment?
When I introduced a reporter called Seth Conway as “Sex” Conway and blushed bright red with embarrassment.
What would you like to do before your career ends?
Anchor the national news.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Seeing family and friends, ballet lessons, trips to the cinema and theatre, skiing, scuba diving and travelling.
What advice would you give to anyone that would like to get into the broadcasting world?
Never give up and always be yourself. Determination and talent goes a long way.
A big thanks to Sally for taking part.
