Where are you from?
How did you get started in broadcasting?
Attended public auditions as a presenter for Junior That’s LIfe, then worked occasionally as a child actor. Eventually joined the BBC as a trainee journalist.
When was that?
Why News broadcasting?
It allows you to be legitimately nosey, and give you the opportunity to tell the audience something new. (And unlike acting, you get to write your lines, not just read them)
Where else would have viewers seen or heard you before?
As a regional news reporter and presenter, in Bristol and London.
What is your Best on-air moment?
When it’s live – you can’t beat the privilege of doing a job like this.
What is your Worst on-air moment?
Presenting a series of election results bulletins when the voting machines had broken down, and we had absolutely no results to report for the entire day. I read very slowly and paused a lot.
What would you like to do before your career ends?
Do it all again.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
What spare time?
What advice would you give to anyone that would like to get into the broadcasting world?
Be polite and persistant.
A big thanks to Shaun for taking part.
