BBC Newsnight’s Lewis Goodall joins Sky News as Political Correspondent

Lewis Goodall is to join Sky News in the new year as a Political Correspondent.

He joins from Newsnight where he has spent three years reporting on some of the major political stories of the day.

As well as covering politics, Lewis has reported on the Paris terrorist attacks, Young UKIP and the housing crisis. He has also presented historical films for the BBC on The Easter Rising, Joseph Chamberlain and the legacy of the 1945 General Election.

Lewis has also secured political interviews with some of the most influential politicians of our time including Roy Hattersley, Peter Mandelson, Margaret Beckett, Shirley Williams, Tessa Jowell and Denis Healey.

After three great years at Newsnight I am thrilled to be joining Sky as Political Correspondent,” said Lewis.

“There simply couldn’t be a better time to be a political journalist and nowhere better to be than with the absolutely unrivalled team at Sky News.

“If 2017 has even half the surprises in store as 2016, we’re going to be kept very, very busy indeed and I can’t wait to get started.”

Before joining the BBC, Lewis worked for the Institute of Public Policy Research and at ITV. Following his graduation from St John’s College, Oxford in 2010 with a degree in History and Politics, Lewis also worked in the United States Congress. He is currently writing a book on the history of the Labour party and the future of the left to be published by William Collins in late 2017.

Esme Wren, Head of Politics for Sky News, said: “The coming year is set to be the most politically challenging as Britain begins its exit from the EU.

“Never before has there been a greater need for sharp specialist analysis and creative production.

“Lewis Goodall comes with an energy and determination to get to the heart of the story, adding even greater dynamism to our already highly successful Westminster team.”
