Sky News has announced that it is to launch a bureau on the West Coast of America.

U.S. correspondent Greg Milam, currently based in Washington DC, will relocate to Los Angeles to set up the new bureau.

Amanda Walker, formerly Russia Correspondent has taken on the role of U.S. Correspondent, replacing Greg and joining Dominic Waghorn in Washington DC.

Last year Amanda covered the Russian Presidential election, the trial and imprisonment of punk band Pussy Riot and the flash floods which killed 150 people in the south of the country. Outside Russia Amanda reported on the Euros in Ukraine and Poland, Superstorm Sandy as it made landfall and most recently the US elections in Florida.

Katie Stallard will leave her current role as Media and Technology Correspondent in London to take up the position of Russia Correspondent based in Moscow and will report from across Russia and the wider region. Katie is to be replaced by News correspondent Niall Paterson.

Sarah Whitehead, Head of International News at Sky News, said: “I’m excited at the prospect of having four correspondents covering the US, coast to coast. Having a presence on the West Coast will enable us to tell stories from across America with all time zones covered.”
