Former racing driver Ben Edwards will replace [[Martin Brundle]] as the BBC’s lead Formula one commentator.
Ben, who returns to live F1 commentary for the first time since 2002, will commentate on every race for the BBC next season alongside [[David Coulthard]].
Confirming the news on Twitter, Ben said: “So, it looks as though it’s really happening. I will be the BBC F1 commentator in 2012 and I can’t wait!
“It took a while for things to be sorted, and thanks to ITV for being so understanding. Really looking forward to working with the crew.”
Ben began his career in motorsport as a mechanic before becoming a racing driver in 1982. He commentated on Formula 1 when the sport was broadcast on Eurosport in the mid 90s, then paired with John Watson for a sole season on Sky’s pay-per-view F1 Digital+ channel, before moving to ESPN and later to ITV.
