Sky Sports to use ‘game mode’ camera for Arsenal v Man City this Sunday

EFL Live Sky Sports Titles

Sky Sports will use a new camera angle this Sunday for Manchester City’s visit to Arsenal.

The camera – provided by BatCam – moves from side to side along the length of the pitch, moving along a rail to quickly keep up with action – similar to game play in EA Sports FC (formerly FIFA).

It has already been used at the Emirates for the WSL clash between Arsenal women and Liverpool women last weekend and if this trial proves successful it could be rolled out to future Premier League games.

“We’re very excited to see what ‘Game Mode’ can bring to the overall viewing experience for fans and believe it has great potential when it comes to in-game innovation,” said Phil Marshall, of Sky Sports.

“We thank Arsenal FC and the Premier League for their support in testing this innovation.”

The match will be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League, while the alternative broadcast with ‘railcam’ will air on Sky Sports Football from 4.00pm. The match kicks-off at 4.30pm.

Sky will show a total of three Premier League matches this weekend including Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forest from 5.30pm on Saturday, and Liverpool’s visit to Brighton & Hove Albion at 2.00pm on Sunday.
