The 2019 Sports Personality of the Year will take place this evening – live on the BBC.

Gabby Logan, Clare Balding and Gary Lineker present this year’s ceremony from the P&J Live Arena in Aberdeen.

Geraint Thomas was presented the prestigious main award in 2018, and the nominees this time around are cricketer Ben Stokes, sprinter Dina Asher-Smith, Formula One star Lewis Hamilton, heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson, Wales rugby union legend Alun Wyn Jones and Manchester City and England forward Raheem Sterling.

The Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Overseas Sports Personality of the Year, Young Sports Personality of the Year, Unsung Hero and Helen Rollason awards will also be handed out during the evening.

There will also be live music from Lewis Capaldi and Emeli Sande.

The programme gets underway at 7pm on BBC and BBC One HD with live streaming via the BBC iPlayer.
