The Sun: ‘I leapt in front of lorry hoping to die’ – Clarke Carlisle

Thursday’s Sun Newspaper has an exclusive interview with former footballer Clarke Carlisle, who says he leapt in front of a lorry hoping to die.

In late December 2014, Carlisle was walking on the A64 near Bishopthorpe in North Yorkshire at 7.30am when he was hit by the lorry.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said at the time: “A 35-year-old male from the York area was involved in a collision with a lorry on the A64 this morning and airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary where he remains in a serious condition.”

He left hospital last week after spending six weeks there. His wife Gemma tweeted: “Nearly 6 weeks on… Today I’m collecting Mr C to come home full time! Thanks once again for your amazing support and love.”

The 35-year-old had been a regular pundit on ITV, working at last summer’s World Cup in Brazil and commentating on the Europa League.
