Channel 5 today announced it’s to launch a new premium channel offering high quality factual series, intelligent documentaries and must-watch dramas.

5PRIME – launching on 16th January 2018 – will feature first run originals alongside the finest content and spin offs of its most popular programmes.

The channel will showcase a selection of high quality content ranging from factual programmes like Ben Fogle: New Lives in The Wild and GPs: Behind Closed Doors and new commissions like The Secret Life of Owls and new RTE legal drama, Striking Out.

“As the home of Channel 5’s critically acclaimed premium content, 5PRIME is a welcome and complementary addition to the Channel 5 family of channels,” said James Brown, Channel Manager of 5PRIME.

“Viewers can enjoy appointment to view programmes and special themed evenings ranging from history to natural history, drama to documentary.”
