Biography Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino is an American television personality. He has appeared on Jersey Shore since 2009.

Mike was born in West New Brighton, Staten Island, New York, and grew up in Manalapan Township, New Jersey. He worked as an assistant manager of a fitness centre in Staten Island. When Mike was 25, he lost this job and began underwear modelling.

In 2010, Mike made more than $5 million, the second highest of any other reality star after Kim Kardashian. He made this money through endorsements with Devotion Vodka and Reebok, as well as a ghost-written autobiography, a rap song, a workout DVD, a vitamin line, a clothing line, and TV appearances including Jersey Shore and Dancing with the Stars.

On March 21st 2012, Mike confirmed that he had checked himself into rehab “to get control of a prescription medication problem.” He checked out of the Cirque Lodge treatment center in Utah on April 4, 2012. Mike explained that the situation worsened without him noticing, as at first he fooled himself into believing the painkillers actually gave him energy. He explains: “I made a mistake picking a substance over what I would have chosen before – which was fitness.”

Poignantly, he says that he now “wakes up every day with a smile”, and he’s “happy to be alive”.
