ITV has commissioned four more series of the semi-reality TV show The Only Way Is Essex.
According to the People newspaper, the plan is for each 10 episode series to begin in late January, mid April, at the end of August and early in October.
A source told the paper: “Towie has been a huge success and producers are confident it can carry on doing well. Committing to four series for 2012 is a big deal and it will feel to the viewing public like it is pretty much always on.”
The third series finished last Wednesday with 1.4 million viewers.
But some of Towie’s top names are being tempted away with other TV work. Lauren Goodger and Sam Faiers have reportedly been offered a deal to appear in Celebrity Big Brother 2012 and Mark Wright is taking part in I’m A Celebrity, which begins on ITV1 tonight.
The source added: “ITV bosses are in no doubt Towie will continue to be a hit even without some of the higher profile members of the cast.”
